Everything you need to know

Gentle, even warmth, from the floor up

Wet (water) underfloor heating runs warm water through pipe loops beneath your floor, turning the whole floor into a low-temperature radiator. It heats rooms evenly, runs efficiently at lower flow temperatures, and frees your walls of radiators.

For existing homes, low-profile systems lay over your current floor with only a slim build-up, so you get underfloor heating without digging up the room. New builds and extensions take a screed system laid into the floor. Either way, it works with your existing boiler or a heat pump.

  • The right system for your floor. We match screed, low-profile or timber systems to your build.
  • Proper floor prep & insulation. Designed so the heat goes up into the room, not down.
  • Water or electric. Wet systems for whole rooms and floors; electric matting for a single bathroom.

Good questions

Underfloor heating, answered

The things homeowners ask us most. Anything else, just call us.

Can I have underfloor heating without digging up my floors?

Usually, yes. Low-profile systems lay over your existing floor with only a slim build-up, so most renovations don't need the floor excavated. We'll confirm the best approach for your home at the survey.

Will it work with my current boiler?

In most cases, yes. Wet underfloor heating runs from your existing boiler, and it's also ideal if you move to a heat pump later. We design the system around your heat source.

Does it work with a heat pump?

Yes. Underfloor heating and heat pumps are a natural pairing. Both work best at lower flow temperatures, so a well-designed system runs efficiently whether you have a boiler now or a heat pump in future.

Is underfloor heating warm enough on its own?

Yes, when it's designed properly. A bespoke, room-by-room design sizes the system to your floors and insulation so each room reaches a comfortable temperature.

Is it expensive to run?

Underfloor heating runs at lower flow temperatures than radiators and heats evenly, which makes it efficient, especially with room-by-room controls and a heat pump. We'll talk you through what to expect.

How long does an installation take?

It depends on the size of the project and whether it's a new screed floor or a low-profile retrofit. We give you a clear timescale in your written quotation.

Which rooms can I have it in?

Anywhere: a single bathroom or kitchen, the whole ground floor, or an entire house. We can zone it room by room so you only heat the spaces you're using.
